Chris (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a once promising high school athlete, has his life turned upside down after a tragic accident. As he tries to maintain a normal life, he takes a job as a janitor at a bank where he ultimately finds himself caught up in a planned heist.
It started out as just another day. He woke up, took a shower with soap and ate breakfast not reading the newspaper. After his terrible car accident, Chrisís life had become a constant struggle and routine was a way to cope. Only today things were going to take a very different turn.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is very convincing in his role as Chris Pratt in Scott Frankís, The Lookout. To say he was the principal actor would be understating it. He is on screen almost every minute of the film and makes what could easily have been just another bank heist movie a compelling story about his characterís personal development. His blind roommate Lewis (Jeff Daniels) is wonderful and provides a bit of comic relief as well as guidance for Chris as he pursues his idea of starting a restaurant, Lewis Your Lunch.
Fine acting is complimented by the technical components of the film. The visuals all seem to be from Chrisís point of view. Simple sets, muted colors and murky images dominate the movie and further accentuate his dull, routine life. I felt that there were a few loose ends in the plot but all in all, things work well together and make The Lookout a very good early season show.Grade: B+
